Hindi is the fastest growing language in Odisha. It is growing with such a speed that slowly it will replace English & Odia in next few years as the preferred language. Today the official languages in Odisha is mainly English with somewhat Odia. In next few years what I feel & understand, Hindi will replace English & Odia as the preferred language across Odisha. You may say that it’s exaggerated & not possible but it is actually happening - 1/ Hindi is the most preferred common language & the chosen one even by the Odia community across Western Odisha. Across Western Odisha Hindi is the main language & somewhat Odia is now in a death bed there. Hindi is so common in Western Odisha cities that it feels like to be in are in Bihar, Jharkhand or Chhattisgarh e.g Rourkela, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Rajgangpur etc. The moment you enter to these cities if you speak Odia you would feel like an odd man out in your own state! read less
