Hi, I have been working in IT from the past six years. My primary skills are Unix and SQL. Can I go for a Spark or Hadoop training? Do I need to learn Python for big data? Is there any skill I need to have for spark?

Python is not mandatory for learning spark. But if you have some core Java skills, that will be the add on to learn spark.

Go for Spark training. Spark has already started replacing Hadoop (Mapreduce in particular), and since you are already familiar with SQL, it will be easier for you. Python is a much-used language in BigData, but you don't need to learn. It is mainly used for ML / Data science projects. As for learning Spark, you need to know the fundamental concepts like distributed computing, the internals of Spark etc. All the best!

Hi Sourav, SQL and UNIX will also help you in the significant data domain, but I would suggest Python or java if you want to learn Spark. First Start with a fundamental concept in spark and try writing some spark code and execute them in Data brick Free cluster.

Hello Sourav, Yes you can go for hadoop/spark training with your current profile. You don't need to learn python for it. Basic knowledge of database is enough to learn hadoop/spark.
